Afraid of a durable Conservative Supreme Court Supermajority?

How can you stop it?

President Trump has every right and responsibility to fill a supreme court vacancy. The Republican majority has every right and responsibility to move the confirmation process along as fast as possible and seat that nominee before the November 3rd election.

The fact that Republicans have brought hypocrisy to a historic level notwithstanding.

When President Obama nominated Merrick Garland to fill a Supreme Court vacancy, Mitch McConnel and the Republicans said that 8 months was too close to the election for the Senate to consider Garland’s confirmation. That Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation is taking place 3 weeks before the 2020 election demonstrates that Republicans are shameless liars and will seek to consolidate their power to the exclusion of any sense of fairness or simple decency.

It doesn’t diminish the constitutional imperative that the President has the duty and privilege to nominate judges to fill Supreme Court vacancies, and the United States Senate has the duty and privilege to confirm Supreme Court Justices.

So, what can you do about it?

If Alexander Hamilton were around, he might point out that Americans have the option of using a 2nd Amendment…
