I’ll start by saying that I think your central premise is correct.

Therefore, it must mean that I still have feelings of love for my ex-wife. Our relationship ended because her mental health issues became too much for me to bear. We are both in recovery, but after 32 years of sobriety, my ex decided to start drinking alcohol and smoking weed again. She has taken up with a nice fellow who shares her renewed lifestyle, and she seems really happy, and actually seems more healthy mentally. And I’m happy for her. So if the opposite of love is indifference, then a lack of indifference must mean love.

I might be able to get to indifference in time.
