One thing I really don't understand is the whole "abstinence before marriage philosophy". It really is such a perverse idea. When my daughter was 12 or so and we were talking about sex I asked her to wait until she is an adult to have sex. I explained that there is a lot of emotional content when it comes to sex and people over 18 are better able to handle it than people under 18. She waited until she was 17, which was close enough as far as I'm concerned, but it took a couple of years before she could find a guy who was any good at it.
