We are very conscientious of this in the Army. If you teach a soldier wrong at the beginning it becomes very difficult to correct it. He then becomes an instructor and passes on the error to other soldiers.
It's related to the concept of "shoots like a girl". I have often found that it was easier to teach women musketry than many men. Many guys are taught to shoot by their daddies and while some are taught correctly, many are not. It is harder to unteach someone something to then teach them than it is to teach someone correctly the first time. Far fewer women come into the Army having handled a firearm in the past and therefore become good shooters quickly.
