When my wife had our child, it was a scheduled c section so she went ahead and had her tubes tied at the same time. I didn't bother getting a vasectomy because I wasn't intending on having sex with anyone else.
20 years later my marriage ended and I was with a woman who was not quite menopausal so she asked me if I had been fixed or otherwise, I was going to have to wear a condom. I booked an appointment with my doctor the next day because the last thing a 53 year old man needs is to impregnate a woman he's dating.
I don't think that Michelle is wrong in her assessment. Hey men, what where you waiting for?
But to Ted's point, when I was ready to undergo the procedure at the age of 53, the doctor asked me if I was sure because the procedure is hard to reverse. I couldn't believe he was trying to talk me out of it.
A few years ago, my childless nephew got a vasectomy at the age of 33 and I think it was a very responsible decision. We need to tell the medical community to stop trying to talk men out of getting vasectomies.
